Nobel Break

Vanakkam Nanbargalay.....

I hope every one of you might have celebrated diwali in grand manner. Belated Diwali wishes to you all. Diwali is real joyous function and great moments to cherish through out the following days and months. The newly married couples (who got married prior to diwali that particular year) will have a special celebration during diwali and it is termed as 'Thalai (Head) Diwali in Tamil Nadu. As per me its only one year or that particular year diwali is the 'Thala Diwali for the newly married couples, but every year it is a 'THALAI Diwali for only one person in Tamil Nadu.. Can any one of you guess who it is...

It is none other than our Ultimate Star ''THALA' Ajith Kumar.!!!

Though traditionally Pongal is the main function of Tamil Nadu, yet Diwali holds equal or more importance with pongal festival. The pongal function went on well all these years and due to some sudden change to its fundamental by our great tamil nadu politicians, now there is a very big confusion among people when to celebrate pongal. Our politicians do not even spare the festivals..!!! ivlo Naal Nalla thaanaiyaa pongal festival poittu irundudu..!!! kelambitaangaiyaa.. kelambitangaiyaa.. Namma politicans edhaiyavadu summa ippadi kolluthi pottukiney irupaanga.. Namma makkulum semmaiya confuse agi, function celebrate panradaiyey vituduvaanga..!!!

There is only one major difference between Diwali and Pongal. I am sure many of you might have got the answer right now. The answer is ..... during Diwali we can eat pongal, but during Pongal we cannot eat Diwali..!!! idhu dhaan difference.

Along with this celebration mood and joyous moments, we take this opportunity to Wish and congratulate Mr. Venkatraman Ramakrishan for his Nobel Prize. Whole of our Country, in particular Tamil Nadu is so proud of Mr. Venkatraman. He has won this Nobel prize in Chemistry for his studies of the structure and function of the ribosomes.
Let us also wish and congratulate Mr. Barack Obama for his Nobel Peace Prize.

It is great achievement by Mr. Venkatrama Ramakrishnan. Recently I read a very good article about Mr. Venkatraman in tamil magazine and it was simply superb. I shall try to brief a few words about that article and I feel every one should read and should know the greatness of Mr. Venkatraman.

It was early in the morning, Mr. Venkatraman recieved a phone call from a lady who works as secretary in the Nobel Prize foundation office and informed him about his Nobel Prize. Mr. Venkat could not blieve this phone call and thought that was some pranks played by some one. Then he rang up the top level people in the Nobel foundation and then it came as a surprise to him that he has won the Nobel Prize for sure. Being morning hours, his wife had been for a walk and there was no one for Mr.Venkat to share this joyous news. His sister and family along with his father were residing in USA, but since it was sleeping time for them, Mr. Venkat dropped the idea of calling and disturbing them with this news.

Later he took his bicycle ( he does not have car it seems.. even to commute to his work place he used bicycle only.. ) and then located his wife and shared this happy news. Though he was born in tamil nadu at his early age of 3 years he moved to karnataka as his father relocated there due to his employment. So all of the studies of Mr. Venkatraman was not in Tamil nadu, where as to his surprise and shock several people in Tamil Nadu started giving news in all the tamil magazines that they were the professor, teacher for Mr. Venkatraman. !!! idhu daan namma aalugangaloda speciality. Cycle gap la auto ootiduvaanga..!! Also several people started mailing to Mr. Venkatraman claiming as his relatives, though he has not even heard about their names in the past..!!!

Then the local television arranged for an interview with Mr.Venkatraman, where his lovely humbleness got revealed. This entire interview shows nothing other than the greatness of Mr. Venkatraman.

Let me narrate about that interview details of Mr. Venkatraman in the future posts..

Enna friends, why there is no Nobel Prize for Blog posts???? Can any one find out and inform me..

UID's....Appreciable Adaptation

Hi Everyone,

Finally, I decide to break the shackles of dormancy with this post. Since so much has been said and discussed about Chromepet, I thought of jumping into totally different topics to write about.

There was a discussion between me and my roommate about a news article published a couple of days back [http://ibnlive.in.com/news/nilekani-quits-infosys-to-head-govts-unique-id-project/95681-3.html]. It was about the implementation of a new system called Unique Identification cards (UID's) by the Govt. of India.

As the news post claims, by employing this UID, each and every citizen of India can be taken into account and can be acknowledged for his economical and educational status and else more. It will be one of the most appreciable adaptation by India, of the already successfully existing system called Social Security Number (SSN's) in United states of America which accounts for each and every individual who earns taxable dollars. I feel that, rather than just westernizing in culture, which we should not have done, adaptation of infrastructure and governing schemes of developed countries should be given importance to put India on fast track to become a developed nation.

The best part of the discussion we had on this matter, is on what benefits it would serve on a future prospective just other than serving as yet another identification card. I felt it very interesting to share it here.

Once this UID's are implemented, as promised it will "count and account" for each citizen of India of his/her economical and educational status. If that happens, the Govt. of India should be able to identify and classify different sections of the society on a economical and education basis. If we can do that, then we can focus on employing reservation for different sections of society based entirely on economic status which many of us would highly recommend and strongly wish for.....Of course, it is easier said than done, but still its the thought that counts most. A good thought is half-work done and rest is only about execution.

"YOU ARE THE MASTERPIECE"

Vanakam Nanbargalay..

Thats nice to see another post with in a short interval. Recently I came acorss wonderful message, but unfortunately the Author of this golden words remains unknown. I felt it is really worth to share with you. The words of this article are so inspiring and motivational. I hope you all will also have the same feeling after reading this. Njoy...

“You are a Masterpiece"

A plum once said, just because a banana lover came by, I converted myself into a banana. Unfortunately, his taste changed after a few months and so I became an orange. When he said I was bitter I became an apple, but he went in search of grapes. Yielding to the opinions of so many people, I have changed so many times that I no more know who I am. Now I wish I had remained a plum and waited for a plum lover.

Just because a group of people do not accept you as you are, there is no necessity for you to strip yourself of your originality. You need to think good of yourself, for the world takes you at your own estimate. Never stop down in order to gain recognition. Never let go of your true self to win a relationship. In the long run, you will regret that you traded your greatest glory - your uniqueness, for momentary validation. Even Mahatma Gandhi was not accepted by many people.

The group that does not accept you the way you are, is not your world. There is a world for each one of you, where you shall reign as king / queen by just being yourself. Find that world... in fact, that world will find you.

What water can do, gasoline cannot and what copper can, gold cannot. The fragility of the ant enables it to move and the rigidity of the tree enables it to stay rooted. Everything and everybody has been designed with a proportion of uniqueness to serve a purpose that we can fulfill only by being our unique self. You as you alone can serve your purpose and I as I alone can serve my purpose. You are here to be you... just you.

There was a time in this world when Lord Krishna was required and he was sent; a time when a Christ was required and he was sent; a time when a Mahatma was required and he was sent; There came a time when you were required on this planet and hence you were sent. Let us be the best we can be. Don't miss yourself and let the world not miss you.

In the history of the universe, there has been nobody like you and to the infinite of time to come, there will be no one like you. Existence should have loved you so much that it broke the mould after making you, so that another of your kind will never get repeated.

You are original

You are rare

You are unique

You are a wonder

You are a masterpiece... your Master's piece.

Celebrate your Uniqueness.

Enna nanbargalay, I am sure you all might have enjoyed reading the above.

Good, have nice time.. Shall come back with stunning post soon.

Most Costliest thing in India.......

Vanakkam Nanbargalay.........

I hope every thing is going good for all.. Once again sorry for the delayed post. This delays are becoming unavoidable. I guess I am too much maintaining the IST (Indian Stretchable Time..!!) Anyways, better late than never..!! enna solareenga?

So many results have been disappointing for most of the people since the month of May 2009. Yes, it started from Election results in India, followed by IPL ( My fav. Chennai Super Kings lost..!!) such a pathetic defeat for CSK in the semi's, followed by T20 World Cup failures by indian Team.

Fine, this is the moral of the life.. There will be ups & downs in life.. Last year we enjoyed the T20 Victory, this year let us be happy thinking that one of the Asian country is going to win the trophy. This is how we have to console ourselves and move ahead..

Oflate Dhoni is too busy with his Advertisements.. mmm. Indian cricketers are the richest sports people in this world.. I was controlling myself so much not to write anything about this cricket, but I am sorry, I could not stop myself from talking about our indian cricket. Our Indian Cricketers are the best example for this saying " Strike while the Iron is hot".. Earn as much as you can when you are popular..!! enna kodumai saravanan idu... Money is every thing in this present world. irukattum irukattum..

Friends, as usual the introduction of the blog is no way connected to the content or the continuation now..

I guess this month of june is considered to be the Fresh begining for almost all the people in India particularly. So many results in the month of May and June like Schools, colleges etc., Youngsters will start a fresh begining in their life either by entering into a school or college. Great moments.. Memories of School & College days lasts for long, never fades away.. Great..

As per me, June is a crucial month for so many. Drastic change of life for several. Rich becomes poor and the poor becomes bankrupt. Yes, it is true, continue reading further and I am sure you all will agree this point that June month changes several people lives.

I was so inspired by the lines written by Mahakavi Bharathiyar and which was nicely quoted by Mr. Cho in the Tele serial 'Engey Brahmanan'.. Some of the explanations by Mr. Cho is outstanding and as of now this Tele serial is marching with great success. I wish to blog in future some thing about this serial 'Engey Brahmanan' too.. But for the time being, here is the following Lines of our great Mahakavi Bharathiyaar..

I strongly feel only the owners of Educational Institutions strictly following Mahakavi's verses.. Yes every owner of the Education Institutions (either be school or college), particularly in Tamil Nadu see to that they give education to a poor person. If the person is not poor take as much as money from him in the name of Donation, capitation, building fund, and make that person really poor. This is how these people follow the verses of Mahakavi..

For even KG classes in a school, the fees collected is never less than Rs 25,000/- Cost of education is increased so much, does it reflect in the quality of the education or moral taught in the institution. For college admission just some lakhs.. Where is our country moving towards? Why no one (our great politicians) is bothered to raise voice on this. I know most of you will answer now, that many of the educational institutions are owned by these politicians.. mmm.. What to say now?

So now to summarise, this june month changes one's life drastically at this present commercial world. Hope you all agree with me now? Fine, let me conclude now and come out with more valid points to tackle this Costly education system in India.

ok friends... vartaaaaa......................

Chromepet My Heaven - Part VI

Vanakam Nanbargalay....

For a change without having different introduction and contents, I will straight away enter into to the main topic.

Yes, I shall now narrate about the 2nd person by whom I was inspired by. I thought this is going to be a suspense, but one of the reader (Until today I do not know the identity of the person) has rightly guessed about the 2nd person.

The 2nd person is none other than the regular ghee vendor in chromepet, who comes in two wheeler. I remember he used to come in Bajaj M80, but now I think he is using TVS XL for his business roamings. Until now I do not know his name, we normally call him as 'Vennaikaar'..- means Butter Man..!! ( gosh.. it sounds like Super Man, Spider Man & HE Man..) Wow, that sounds good.. "Butter Man".. I am sure in the near future there will be a movie in this name "Butter Man" either in Hollywood or our great KoliWood (kodambakkam naina..!!).

This Butter Man sells ghee/butter on door steps at every house that too on credit basis. As per me he does this business more than 25 years now.. Though his children are well settled in US & UK, he still continues his ghee selling business until today. As usual when I enquired him why he is still roaming in hot sun for this business and even suggested him to open a shop and appoint some boys to do the door sales. He humbly replied that he is presently very well settled only because of this business and not willing to give up this business and to sit idle at shop or home.. Like wise there are so many legends in our great Radha Nagar, the list is endless..

There is a popular belief among this Butter Man's Customers that he mixes some quantity of Dalda ( Don't you know Dalda?? - oosi Mani, Paasi Mani samiyow..!!!) to the Ghee. Because of this the real Fragrance and taste of the Ghee is lost. I don't know whether this discovery & result by the ghee customers are true?.. But as he sells for Credit, I feel this Ghee and Butter will also emit Fragrance only on credit basis.. So when ever the Fragrance of the Ghee comes we should smell nicely and preserve, use it while having food..!!! enna, romba nalla ideava irukaaa??

During my last visit to chromepet I happened to see one more personality.. Mr.Narayanan who delivers Aavin Milk packet at door steps for the past 30 years.

Similarly there are various interesting personalities in chromepet. There is one more lady in the station Road Who sells lemon in front of a big commercial building. I guess when this commercial building was inaugurated the owners of this building would have purchased Lemon from this same lady to tie in front of the entrance to get rid off the bad omens..(Drishti kazhika..!!) But this owners never know that this building will be bought by this lemon selling lady at later days.. Yes, that is what happened. Idhu Kadhai alla Nijam..(Not Story but truth).

I shall say about this Lemon matter in the future blogs..

Chromepet My Heaven - Part V

Vanakam Nanbargalay.............

I hope things are going good for every one.. I guess people in India will be the most busiest beings in whole of this universe atleast for this month and April. The reasons are obvious March 31st year ending operations for several firms & people apart from this our great LS (I strongly have a doubt.. is it "Loot Sabha" or Lok Sabha??) Elections are gearing up in matter of 12 days..

Due to various reasons, I am not contesting this election for the Prime Minister Post..!!! ( I guess no extra jokes required for this post apart from this single Line..!!).

As usual the introduction of this post is no way connected to the main topic... I shall continue my earlier post (Chromepet my Heave - Part IV).. following are the lines from the earlier post..

Apart from this, I am very much inspired (even now) by 2 people of RN... I don't know how many of RNs remember and recognise these 2 people.. Come on .. Now start your guess...

Now the Continuation for this Post............

Just adjacent to the A.G. Hospital, at the corner of the road, we can notice a small tender coconut selling shop. Yes, this is one of the person, by whom I was very much inspired by. As per my knowledge this person is doing this same job for continuously almost 25 years. I really don't know since when he is in this business apart from this 25 years. If you immediately come into a conclusion by saying to yourself, what is the great deal in doing this business for more years.. I am sorry your judgement is really wrong..

When ever I am in chromepet I never miss to drink the tender coconut from his shop. As a practise during my last visit to Chromepet I went to his shop to have a tender coconut. I was casually talking to him and asking about his son's whereabouts. His son was 3 to 4 years senior to me in my schooldays. If I am not wrong the name of the person who sells this tender coconut is Mr.Thangam. He then replied that his son is employed with HSBC Bank in Singapore as some IT Head position. Out of surprise and curiosity I immediately put a question to him then why continuing this same job of selling tender coconut rather than taking rest at home. He then replied, that his son is in this position because of this tender coconut business and this shop gives complete satisfaction of hard work and sincerity. I was really moved by his humble reply.

I felt his words were more sweeter than the taste of the tender coconut. Still there are some good people who rely on hard work and sincerity. Great.

Fine, now its all your turn to keep guessing about the second person in Radha Nagar, by whom I was so much inspired...

While talking about Hard work and sincerity, I feel its all not applicable in this present time. I wish to ask the exact meaning of this two words 'HARD WORK' & 'SINCERITY' to our Tamil Nadu Politicians that too during this LS Elections. I am sure there will be definitely one answer from all our great politicans that, they all know about Lipton and Nayyar kadai 'T' ("Tea") and nothing about 'Sincerity'.!!!

Only GOD HAS TO SAVE INDIA FROM ALL THESE POLITICIANS..

Nyabagam Varudhey....Sweet Memories

"ஞாபகம் வருதே ஞாபகம் வருதே...
பொக்கிஷமாக நெஞ்சில் புதைந்த...
நினைவுகள் எல்லாம் ஞாபகம் வருதே..."

Hello Everyone,

I was hearing this song last week and that's when I got an idea for this post. Its all about sweet memories of the past.

As we all know, Change is inevitable. Only change can refrain from being changed...Alright, That's Philosophy! All of us can relate events in our lives to this philosophy at some point of time. One fine day, I started to wonder, how so many things have changed in Chromepet with time?

To be relevant to this blog, I thought of sharing some of my memories related to the school I studied...."The Robert Matriculation School" of Chromepet. The good old school has undergone so many changes through its existence and based on what I heard recently, the school itself is about to go it seems, as a final change! I am not sure, how far this information is true? But if it is, then only memories remain!

If you had studied in this school, you would definitely miss it!! That's true with any school. I agree. If I compare the current condition of the school with the days when I studied, the school has definitely lost an important constituent, the "playground".

To start with, a small playground/parking lot that lie next to the school building....which lost its space to a small apartment complex. Next is the Big Playground near Nemilichery, which again has lost its space to a even bigger apartment complex. People like me who had played, fought, cried and almost enjoyed every bit of time on these playgrounds, can only relish the memories of these once existed spots in Chromepet.

Hope the school will remain for a while or else, a personal heritage site of mine will be missing forever!!

A Mini autograph...

A Classroom Experience-Interesting Internationals!

Hi Everyone,

I am very glad that, the frequency rate of blog posts is increasing. I hope, this rate will be sustained for a while. Also I am glad to know that there are few regular readers of this Blog. Thanks to all!

I thought of sharing one of my recent experience in an interesting classroom! It was an evening class after 5 PM. The class was a composite mix of internationals and native students. There were a couple of Chinese students, one from Germany, myself and a handful of American students.

It was a boring class that day. But, it looked like, the students had already came with their plans on how to spend their 90 minutes inside the classroom. As the professor started to lecture, students started to get in to their own world. Even I was so bored that day I started observing the students around. I was seated way back that day so it was not great deal to observe everyone in a small class with only 8-10 students.

There was a Chinese guy seated next to me who was enjoying his sleep so much that his Pen fell from his hand and he didn't bother to pick it. That's the Beginning. Then I noticed another student in front of me spending her time in art! She was drawing a cartoon with so much dedication! It was interesting because she was trying to make a cartoon of the professor standing and delivering lecture. I was trying hard not to laugh! It was a hilarious drawing. To my left, there was a German guy who started to sleep making himself comfortable by keeping a book for his head rest on top of the table. I was wondering, why I did not have so much freedom in my old school days? I don't think its common to have such a comfortable sleep in a class of 10 in India.

Then I looked little forward towards the first row of the class. There was an American girl sitting right in front and working seriously hard to try and crack a cross-word puzzle along with a cup of coffee. Really working hard...Isn't she? She was keeping the cross-word puzzle printout in-between a notebook and solving it comfortably as though she was constantly taking notes. Its a tough job!

There were a couple of students having a paper conversation(writing a conversation on a paper and passing it to your friend who will reply to it and pass you back the paper). I guess many of us would have tried this method in our school days. I used to enjoy it...! The last person sitting along side in my row was busy in text-messaging. I was just appreciating the limitation of Paper conversation.....!

Oh wait wait wait....!!

I did not tell you what I was doing all this time (Other than just observing...come on!! Is it not boring to just keep observing for 90 minutes?). This blog was born at that time! I took a piece of paper and started writing this blog. Later I gave some touch ups and presenting it to you now.

I can hear you all saying "Enna Kodumai Sir Idhu?"

OK OK....

I felt it as an interesting experience to share with.

Keep smiling,
Rajesh Subramanian

[I would also like to appeal to those interested readers to leave a comment/suggestions/arguments on the blog which will be exciting and would encourage the blogger to drop in more frequent posts!!]

Naan Kadavul - Aham Brahmasmi - Part 2

vanakam Nanbargalay......

I shall continue my earlier blog about the film 'Naan Kadavul' and my views about it.

The lines from my earlier blog as follows :

First and foremost, I was able to grasp four main points after seeing the movie, they are :
  • TO LIVE THE PRESENT LIFE, AS HOWEVER IT IS
  • NOT TO REACT TO EVERY HAPPENINGS IN LIFE
  • REALISE THE GOD WITHIN EVERY INDIVIDUAL LIFE
  • HOW TO HAVE A 'DETACHED ATTACHMENT' WITH OUR RELATIONS IN OUR LIFE.

AHAM BRAHMASMI..............

Now The Continuation............. Instead making a lengthy blog, I thought of sharing my views about the above points through several blogs.

TO LIVE THE PRESENT LIFE, AS HOWEVER IT IS :

In life there are things which are in our control and there are lots of things which are beyond our control. While talking about things which are not in our control, in spiritual sense this will be termed as 'Fate' in English and 'Prarabda Karma' in Sanskrit. Nothing is going to change by merely brooding over the past or present sorrows. Few of the problems of self can be solved by means of brainy thinking or attitude but it is not the solution for all the problems. So just accept the life as it is and to live in the present rather than brooding about the past or imagining about the unknown future.

I asked God, 'How do I get the best out of life?'

God said,

'Face your PAST without regrets', Cannot change what has happened, so Forget it.

Handle your PRESENT with confidence.

And prepare for the FUTURE without fear !!

As we all would have heard these words frequently,

"Past is a History, Future is a Mystery, only PRESENT is the Reality, so always live in Reality (PRESENT)."

I consider the words from the song 'Maratha Vechavan' from the Tamil Movie 'Panakkaran' as the very best explanation to this point "TO LIVE IN PRESENT LIFE, AS HOWEVER IT IS".

I shall continue the other points shortly.

Vendar Theater - Chromepet

VENDAR THEATER - CHROMEPET

Vanakam Nanbargalay...........

I enjoyed reading Rajesh's ('kumural') sad story about watching movie in the very first row of Vetri Theater. I really don't know for how many years this theater is existing. I too have seen so many movies in vetri and Rakesh Theater. In fact I was also some times a victim of this First Row category.. So I guess this is the very first time Rajesh is watching a movie in vetri theater in First Row.. Come on, Rajesh.. cool.. don't worry.. Think positive, that you are the first to watch the movie and what ever remaining you allow only others behind your 'FIRST ROW' are watching.. (Actually this is how I convinced myself when I was victimised.!!)

Once I remember I was the first person in the ticket counter in Vetri Theater. I think that was our Captain's (Not M S Dhoni..!!) , vijayakanth's movie. The movie timing was noon 12.30, but I was there in the counter since 11 AM and at times I shed a proud view watching people standing behind me.. But that time I never knew that later every others will watch me with pity..!! Yes, this happened for sure.. The ticket counter opened at around 12.15, suddenly I felt my shoulders so heavy and then realised that people are walking on my shoulder from behind. I was standing at the same place where I was from 11 AM, but people were getting tickets from the counter easily by just keeping their hands inside the counter from my shoulder. I never got chance to keep my hand, forget hand.. not even my fingers near the ticket counter.. Finally after 10 minutes of this Shoulder journey except me every others standing behind me got the tickets and even marched proudly inside the theater. Within 5 mintues the ticket counter got closed with a sign board saying 'House Full'... I could not buy the ticket from the counter..!! what a shame after standing first in the counter.

I went with 2 of my friends who were laughing like anything seeing my plight and they were enjoying the whole scene than the real movie inside the theater. Finally we all marched sadly towards our house and sat quietly inside the house watching TV and by our presence we made our 'House Full'..!!!

So vetri theater is known for his black ticket stories..!!

The very best Multi plex theater in chromepet is 'Vendar' at Ganapathipuram. I don't know how many of you know this tent theater. Still I remember, exactly at 6 Pm every evening we can hear the Vadhiyar ('Puratchi Thalaivar MGR) song 'Acham enbadhu Madamaiyada..'. This is the indication that lights are on in the vendar theater. Only 2 shows in this theater, one at 6.30 PM and another at 9.30 PM. Thats it.. This is our 'PRARTHAN DRIVE IN' for chromepet.

The highest ticket was Rs 3.50 paise to sit on a steel chair and watch the movie.! The other rows are filled with wooden bench and the remaining front rows are filled with Sand. So in this Sand filled first row you can sit or sleep and watch.. Only thing you have to be careful of the frequent visitors 'Dogs' during the movie.. Otherwise such a comfortable row.

I have watched so many movies in this theater. I do not know whether this theater is existing still now. Can any of you reading this blog inform me about this?

ok friends, That is all about vendar theater at the moment. Though I have got some more things to write about Vendar, but preserving it for my future blogs.

Vetri Rakesh Theatre - A Forgettable experience!

Hello Everyone,

I would like to share a recent experience I had with this theatre which I consider a forgettable one. Every chromepettian who had lived for a few years in Chromepet would be very very familiar about this theatre. The theatre is one of the oldest in the locality and has been very active and popular among the people of Chromepet over the years. Among the youth, this theatre is an icon of chromepet. Right from Superstar to Little super star, they have some fan club or the other fencing the theatre with Name boards, Posters and Hoardings. I agree that I was also once a regular visitor to this theatre. No matter what the ticket price is...People still mob in. It is one of the biggest theatres too with a huge seat capacity compared to many city theatres in Chennai.

Alright, Lets come to the story line..

During my recent trip to India, I decided to go to this theatre to watch a movie named "Padikadhavan" along with my brother and his friends. One of my brother's friend waited in the queue for almost an hour to get tickets for the movie. He waited so long and gladly in the end, got the tickets for all. It needs a great deal of patience and tolerance to get tickets in the counter in this theatre. The ticket stub said the ticket was sold for Rs.8 but the ticket was charged Rs.100. This is not unusual. This is one of the so many notoriusness that the theatre was famous for.  Something like A/c which was just a print sake thing in the ticket. The tickets had a seat number on it but my brother said it does not matter at all in this theatre. I was wondering why then they have it?

Finally we got into the theatre and were looking for the seat numbers since we were told at the door that we got to sit according to the seat numbers that day. I was glad that at last they were following some rules in this theatre. We had tickets numbered "FF", whereas the row started from row A and going down all the way to row Z. We thought that it was written "FF" by mistake, so we took the seats in F row. After a while, there were some people claiming the seats to be theirs. We were arguing with them and finally the theatre guy asked both of us to show the ticket stubs and then we were asked to look for our seat numbers in the front. One of my brother's friends walked to the front and then came back saying he did not find the rows AA's or BB's. Then, I started walking all the way to the front and I noticed row AA starting after row Z and the followed it all the way to finally find out that "FF" was the first row of the hall right in front/below the screen. We six people were seated in the first row of the Hall. We knew that it was going to be a arduous deal. It became almost impossible to sit there when we realised that, the mega speakers were on the sides of our row.

It was a horrible experience to watch a movie paying Rs.100 and sitting in the first row. It was the first time experience for me to watch it sitting in first row. In the break, we realised that some of my brother's friends who came very late seated in the last rows below balcony. When we were talking to them, they told us that they got black tickets. Then I realised the fact that, tickets sold at the counter are for the seats that are in the front and black ticketers have the best ones. A revolutionary business strategy!!

After realising that, I felt even more uncomfortable to sit and enjoy the movie. If anyone who gets into this kind of uncomfortable position goes to that theatre again, he/she would obviously go for the black tickets which is just Rs.10 or 20 more, rather than standing and waiting at the counter for such a long time. This is what the theatre management also expects.

Naan Kadavul - Aham Brahmasmi

AHAM BRAHMASMI

Vanakam Nanbargalay.....
Hope every thing is going good for every one in spite of the so called 'Recessions' & Economy Crisis.. Thank you Rajesh for the exciting latest details about our Great Chromepet.. After reading your blog, I felt as if I have been to those places mentioned. I am happy to hear that the 'Historical' Bharathi Street in Radha Nagar is going to have hi-fi commercial Hyper Market from VSP.. Great.. Good. That tooo during this peak of recession & Global Economy Crisis...!!

Until the very first news I heard about the bankruptcy of some banks in USA, I have heard (realised/felt!!) the 'Economy Crisis' only at (my) home level. So When I started hearing this term for the very first time in Newspapers, it did not give me any surprise or shock, but later when this words 'Global Economy Crisis' captured the headlines frequently, then I realised the importance and seriousness of it.

So to say precisely the 'Economy crisis' which was at locally within every individual home has been Globalised now.. Any way leave it... There is no point in talking about this recession and bail out stories of millions and billions money involved, while we struggle to save every penny in our life term.!!

cool guys, I know few of you would have already confused that I have given a heading and also a picture which is no way related to this blog so far..!!! hahahaha....

I am not going to write paragraphs about Global Economy crisis, just want to share my views about the recent movie 'NAAN KADAVUL'.. Fine, before I continue my views, I shall try to relate this movie to Global Economy Crisis... I really don't know the exact budget spent for this movie, but the costumes of the Hero 'Arya' reflects exactly the 'Global Economy crisis in every single scene of this movie... [apaadaaa.. some how I made a relationship of the above picture with my introduction of this blog.. SHABBBAAAAAAAAA...!! :-)]

I am sure many of the people will not like this movie because of various reasons. But Somehow I liked the movie very much and I shall try to express my views for the liking.

First and foremost, I was able to grasp four main points after seeing the movie, they are :
  1. TO LIVE THE PRESENT LIFE, AS HOWEVER IT IS
  2. NOT TO REACT TO EVERY HAPPENINGS IN LIFE
  3. REALISE THE GOD WITHIN EVERY INDIVIDUAL LIFE
  4. HOW TO HAVE A 'DETACHED ATTACHMENT' WITH OUR RELATIONS IN OUR LIFE.

AHAM
BRAHMASMI..............

I wish to narrate more about this in the future blogs rather than making this blog a lengthy one.

so will catch you all very soon..

I take this moment to Congratulate Mr. A. R. Rahman who has not only brought fame for our Country but also found a permanent place in the history of Indian Film Industry. What an achievement, great... we all Indians are proud of you Mr.ARR, keep up the spirit and continue your dedicated service to the Music Industry. The Humbleness and the composed looks of A.R. Latest on Chromepet

Hi Everyone,

Wish you all a Happy New Year....2009! A Late wish, though the Latest from me...(Thalaivar paanila).

Thanks Kasi for your timely blogs, A Finisher(2008) and a Opener(2009), both on the rocking style of your own!

Vanakkam...Namasthey...Ni hao!

Dont get puzzled! Ni hao = Hello/whats up? in chinese!
Oru change venumla...! Evlavo panrom idha panna maatomaaa!
OK OK...
Before you close the page, I would like to say what I wish to...
Oops! As a matter of fact, I don't have anything to say. But I want to say something.
Rombha confuse panren la....It happens, since I lost the blogging touch for a while.
OK...Matterukku Varen!

I just got back from India (a month ago). So with the memories still very fresh in my mind, I was wondering why not to write a blog on something related to that...?

So, Here we go...!

The moment I got down from the plane and entered the Airport, I screamed within myself "Namma Chennaaaaaiiii.." in great ecstasy. Manasukkulla Oru inampuriyaadha sandhosham. Engum Thamizh, Edhilum Thamizh..! A foggy winter morning greeted me with the sound of some kovil loud speaker.

Andha Build up oda, I got into a car to go to Chromepet. Car kulla oduthu Aahaa FM. Thats new for me. I knew only Radio Mirchi and Suryan FM. So I got a small hint that things have changed a bit from the time I left. Another Big surprise was the completed flyover right in front of the Airport. When you reach the top of the flyover while driving, you get to see a nice scenic overview of the entire runway and all big beautiful planes waiting for the take off and Landing. It was great, but I was surprised/shocked to see how crazy people are to see flight operations? They stop their vehicle completely on the shoulder of the flyover, that too on right on top, and get down from the vehicle to watch the flights take-off and land as If they were on a view point of some tourist location. I am not exaggerating at all. I am describing just what I really saw. Police constables were standing on the flyover to prevent people from stopping on top of flyover causing accidents.
Enna kodumai sir idhu?

Ok Nevermind. Back to the story....I was on the car listening to Aaha FM. As soon as I reached Chromepet, the first thing  that caught my attention was the beautiful & wide tar road of Radha Nagar Main Road. I have never seen it this wide at least in my recent memory. Next one to grab my attention was the "Vaishnava college Rail crossing". Railway gates still remain but people have found more than just one short way (Kurukku vazhi) to bypass the closed gate with Two-wheelers. That too nice and wide...You don't have to get down from your Bike to go past the Crossing. But the four-wheelers still remain cursed though waiting for their turn to squeeze in.

Don't have to say much about the recent modernization of Chromepet with Supermarkets, Textile Showrooms, and Chain restaurants. But the people of Chromepet (Makkals) are waiting with great expectations for this One Big Supermarket.......Adhu dhaan nambha "Vendhan Supermarket" I don't know for sure whether its going to be named "Vendhan". But all I know was, that It is to be Opened by V.S.P. and it is going to replace the existing "palasarakku" provisional store. Unfortunately I could not stay long to see the Opening of the store. But I saw that excitement in people to see it open soon. Its on the base floor of the huge maaligai (Bungalow) of V.S.P. on Bharathi street. I was able to sneak through the name board cover to see the caption for the supermarket saying "We Serve Pure"!

Some other important developments I noticed are these. Namma "Ramasubramanya Swami" Kovil (Ramasubramanya temple) was being remodelled and so it was closed. Some Kattumaana pani (building work) was going on the exterior. But the Big Talk was about the "Dosai/Idly maavu" kadai (Dosa/Idly batter shop) right opposite to the kovil that was making big business every day.  Even I went to that shop a couple of times during my stay and had to stand in a queue to get it. Just two guys and a Grinder and they work (Both the men and the machine) non stop. Heard from my brother that they have couple more shops to0 in and around Chromepet which was also making a similarly big business.

Appadi ippadi Chromepet eh suthi vandaachu......Now lets move on to the climax.

Its about none other than our own.....Namma "Naayar Bhajji Kadai". I went there just once and only one of those two guys still remain there. The person who makes bhajji was still there but there was a new person for sales and Marketing.....(Pottalam kattradhu and customers kooda pesardhu) Its all because of those great sales and marketing skills of the previous Naayar in that post, that the Bhajji kadai has become dear to so many Chromepet makkals. So its not a easy job. New guy still needs some more time to get all those skills I guess. Namma old naayar is still doing great standing in that hot zone talking to customers and cracking jokes.
When I went there this time, I asked him about the other guy and his whereabouts. Naayar told me that they have opened a new branch in Nehru Nagar below the MIT flyover and it was taken care by the "Sales and Marketing" Naayar. Atlast they have expanded their business after so many years.....Adhaan "the special" news about "Naayar Bhajji Kadai" this time.

To sum it up, it was a great three weeks of time that I spent in Chromepet.....

Back with another interesting post soon......!
Until then,
Regards
Rajesh Subramanian
